A versatile, crop sensor wide-standard prime
Available in L-Mount, Sony E-mount and FUJIFILM X Mount*, the versatile SIGMA 23mm F1.4 DC DN | Contemporary for APS-C mirrorless is the ideal lens for creative everyday photography. Its F1.4 aperture creates expressive portraits and is handy when available light is limited. Using high quality optics and weighing only 340g, the lens can be mounted on compact mirrorless bodies to create a highly portable camera system without any compromise to image quality.
A creative focal length with excellent usability
The lens features a wide F2 aperture, able to create true-to-life portraits with beautiful bokeh effects, and with its compact size and weight of 350g, the lens is the perfect photography tool for travel and street photography. Constructed using high-quality SLD and aspherical glass elements, the lens is an excellent upgrade for photography enthusiasts who want to improve the quality of their existing 50mm lens and for professionals who prefer smaller camera systems without compromising on image quality. The glass elements also effectively minimise flare and ghosting in back-lit environments.
Designed exclusively for APS-C mirrorless cameras
The lens has been designed exclusively for APS-C mirrorless cameras, resulting in a compact, lightweight body weighing just 340g*. It also features a quiet, high-speed stepping motor that can lock onto subjects quickly and can be used with AF modes such as focus tracking and eye detection.
Use the large focus ring to fine-tune focus with Dynamic Manual Focus (DMF). The lens also supports switching between non-linear and linear focusing when customised using the SIGMA USB DOCK UD-11 (sold separately / for L-Mount only). It is also compatible with AF assist functions found on compatible cameras (E-mount only).
Ultra-wide aperture perfect for low light
The lens’ F1.4 aperture means a lot of light can pass through the lens. This gives a very shallow depth-of-field for blurry backgrounds, which is ideal for capturing high-impact portraits. It also makes it possible to shoot hand-held in low light conditions without the need for a tripod, as the fast aperture allows for faster shutter speeds.
Expands the range of APS-C format F1.4 prime lenses
With the addition of the 23mm F1.4 DC DN, the SIGMA Contemporary line now has four APS-C format F1.4 prime lenses. Together they work perfectly as a cohesive ultra-wide aperture set, collectively weighing less than 1.5kg. This means users can build a lightweight mirrorless camera system that delivers superb consistency in image quality, colour accuracy and character.

All of our lenses belong to one of three lines—Contemporary, Art or Sports—all of which share our development philosophy and advanced manufacturing system. High performance, high quality and high end in every respect, these lenses give people who love photography lasting value and consistent, exciting results. The secret is our passion for craftsmanship that we put into every production process and every product.
Evaluation with Sigma's own MTF measuring system “A1”
We used to measure lens performance with MTF measuring system using conventional sensors. However, we’ve now developed our own proprietary MTF (modulation transfer function) measuring system (A1) using 46-megapixel Foveon direct image sensors. Even previously undetectable high-frequency details are now within the scope of our quality control inspections.
